The Seward Prevention Coalition received a $1,000 mini-grant in support of Sustainable Seward’s electronics recycling event. Sustainable Seward, a grassroots organization, was established after the second annual Seward Strong Planning Day. One of the selected initiatives from the planning day was to create stronger waste reduction and recycling programs here in Seward. A goal of Sustainable Seward is to hold electronic recycling events locally. Currently, residents and businesses have to haul their electronics up to Anchorage for recycling as Seward lacks the ability to offer year round electronics recycling. The distance, cost, and limited hours for drop-off in Anchorage are a real hindrance to proper disposal of electronics.
